Wednesday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s outreach van will be at 206 Dyckman St. in Upper Manhattan to share information on applying for affordable housing, tenant rights and responsibilities, filing a housing complaint and more. More here.
Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.: The Bronx Defenders will host a “know your rights” workshop on McKinney-Vento Act, a federal law that supports students in temporary housing (if they are homeless, living in a shelter, living with family, living in a hotel or motel, or are an unaccompanied youth). Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission will hold a public review session. More here.
Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.: The City Planning Commission will vote on the following land use proposals: 555 East Tremont, Domino Site B, Ikos Senior Living, and the Long Island City Neighborhood plan. More here.
Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8:45 a.m.: New York Law School’s Center for New York City and State Law will host a panel discussion on federal homelessness policy, including: the newly updated legal standard for involuntary removals; the expansion of co-response programs and options for inpatient and community-based care; and the impact of the recent Executive Order from the White House. Friday, Sept. 5, 12 to 4 p.m.: Various local organizations will host the fourth annual Harlem housing fair at Harlem Art Park (170 E. 121st St.) offering help with tenant rights, public benefits, rental assistance, repairs, and reentry services. More here.
Monday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Health will hold an oversight hearing on cooling and water tower inspections for buildings to prevent Legionnaires’ Disease. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries Ending Soon: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
335 8th Avenue Apartments, Manhattan, for households earning between $66,103 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 8/26)
54 Clinton Place Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $71,829 – $140,000 (last day to apply is 8/27)
717 Bartholdi Street Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $80,538 – $116,640 (last day to apply is 8/27)
The Somerly, Brooklyn, for households earning between $77,349 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 8/29)
544 Carroll, Brooklyn, for households earning between $37,440 – $160,380 (last day to apply is 9/1)
