The Indianapolis Indians, one of the top hitting teams in the International League, pounded out 15 hits Tuesday night as they outscored the visiting St. Paul Saints 10-6 at Victory Field.
Eight hitters drove in runs for the Indians (7-9), led by Billy McKinney and Canaan Smith-Njigba with two each.
The Saints (7-8) had 11 hits of their own, including three by Diego Castillo and two by Will Holland, who drove in three of their six runs.
The teams meet again Wednesday afternoon in the second game of their six-game series.
