Man dies of apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound at Coon Rapids shooting range

Authorities are investigating an apparent suicide Wednesday morning at a public shooting range in Coon Rapids.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, police and paramedics were called around 11 a.m. to 20 Coon Rapids Blvd. N.W. on a report of an individual with an apparent gunshot wound.

First responders at the address, the location of the Modern Sportsman, determined that a man arranged to fire a gun at the indoor range when he suffered an apparently intentional self-inflicted gunshot wound in his assigned shooting lane.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene; he wasn’t immediately identified. No other injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, Coon Rapids Police Department and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
