Gophers football: Transfer commitments continue into Monday

The Gophers football program kept up its success in the NCAA transfer portal into Monday. After picking up seven commitments Sunday, the U added Stony Brook defensive lineman Rushawn Lawrence to its haul.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound native of Philadelphia visited Minnesota over the weekend and pledged to the U before a planned trip to Oklahoma.

Lawrence had 42 total tackles, 11 1/2 tackles for lost yards, including eight sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception at the FCS level last season. In the Colonial Athletic Association, he received a strong 86.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

Lawrence, who appears to have one year of eligibility remaining, is the 10th player to join the U over the last week; he is the second defensive lineman to join Minnesota after Illinois State end Steven Curtis committed on Sunday.
