The St. Paul Winter Carnival Grande Day parade has been canceled.
The parade was to have happened at 2 p.m. Saturday. Organizers with the St. Paul Winter Carnival didn;t give a reaon for the cancelation but federal immigration officials earlier in the day fatally shot a 37-year-old man in Minneapolis, prompting protests in that city.
“After careful consideration, today’s Saint Paul Winter Carnival Grande Day parade will be cancelled,” said organizers in an announcement. “We know this may be disappointing and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our participants, volunteers, and attendees.

Cold weather prompted organizers to cancel kick-off events for the carnival earlier this week.
