The National Weather Service is warning of hazardous conditions for this morning’s commute.

The season’s first winter storm arrived Tuesday night. By 6 a.m. Wednesday, 3.1 inches had fallen at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and up an inch more could accumulate through the morning.

Drivers should expect slippery roads. And winds gusting up to 45 mph could bring down tree branches, the weather service says.

Another chance for snow comes Friday night through the weekend.
