Members of the community gathered, Sunday on the grounds of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory in St. Paul, lighting lanterns, eating food and partaking in Japanese customs in celebration of Obon, a Japanese Buddhist holiday that honors the spirit of ancestors.
The annual event, which took place from 3 to 9 p.m., was organized by Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, Japan America Society of Minnesota, and St. Paul Nagasaki Sister City Committee.
