The former House Speaker and her husband, along with their dog, were shot and killed by a suspected assassin in their Brooklyn Park home on June 14. The suspect, who also shot and injured state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in their home in Champlin, was apprehended and is now facing state and federal charges, suspected of targeting two additional lawmakers as well.

Hortman will be the first woman and one of fewer than 20 Minnesotans to lie in state in the Capitol, the governor’s announcement said.

The Capitol rotunda will be available for the public to pay their respects from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

A private funeral will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A livestream will be available on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s YouTube channel.
