Josefin Bouveng recorded a hat trick, and Abbey Murphy scored her 20th goal of the season as No. 3 Minnesota completed a weekend sweep of WCHA rival Minnesota State with a 5-2 victory in Mankato.

“Josefin with three beautiful passes to her, to get her hat trick,” Gophers coach Brad Frost said. “Just a really nice job overall.”

Allie Franco also scored for the Gophers, who improved to 19-5-1 overall, 13-4-1 in conference play. Hannah Clark stopped 19 of 21 shots for her 15th win in net (15-3-1).

“Great win. On the road, hard place to play,” Gophers coach Brad Frost said. “Got out to a nice four-nothing lead, and it looked like we were in business, but credit [Minnesota State] for making a push there at the end.”

Alexis Paddington and Julianna Gazdik scored for the Mavericks (10-13-1, 4-13-1).
