Business People: Duchesne Drew to lead MPR programming amid other executive changes

American Public Media Group, a St. Paul-based producer of national public-supported radio programming, announced the following executive and staff changes: All Minnesota Public Radio brands will be brought under of the leadership of MPR President and Senior Vice President Duchesne Drew. David Safar, managing director of The Current, MPR’s popular-music station, becomes interim managing director of MPR music services. Liwanag Ojala, who led MPR’s classical music station YourClassical, transitions from chief transformation officer and SVP to chief operating officer and SVP; and Chandra Kavati, SVP and chief partnerships & revenue officer, was named SVP-business development and president of APM.

Imagine Studio, the Minneapolis-based creative unit of Imagine Group, announced the hires of David Nguyen and Kim Mitchell.

AGRICULTURE

The Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association announced it has named Kevin Hoge of Aitkin the 2024 Cattleman of the Year. With his wife, Hoge established his family farm as as Flat Rock Farm in 1981. In 2003, they were named Farm Family of the year for Aitkin County, and in 2021, their farm became a Century Farm.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Merchants Bank, Winona, announced that Steve Molander has joined as senior vice president/chief information officer, succeeding Stephen Swenson, who has retired. Molander most recently was chief technology officer for Falcon Bank and held similar roles for Frandsen Financial Corp. and 21st Century Bank. … PFM, a Philadelphia-based financial advisory and consultant firm, announced the hire of Brian McClintock as a director in the firm’s Minneapolis office.

FOOD

Hormel Foods Corp., an Austin, Minn.-based provider of grocery store prepared food brands, announced that Mike Clausman has been promoted to vice president, deputy general counsel and assistant secretary, a new role. Clausman joined Hormel in 2011 as a corporate attorney and advanced to senior counsel in 2013.

HEALTH CARE

Ecumen a Shoreview-based nonprofit provider of housing and services for older adults, announced that Ecumen North Branch has been named “Best Nursing Home” by U.S. News & World Report for their short-term rehabilitation services.

HONORS

CAMP Digital, an Edina-based marketing agency serving the home services industry, announced it received three awards in 2024: a Stevie Award, for positive business contributions; a MarCom award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, and Twin Cities Business magazine recognized co-founder and CEO Katie Donovan among its “Notable Women in Technology.” … Judge Korey Wahwassuck of Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial Branch and Minnesota Judicial Branch Attorney Judy Nord have received the Hon. Robert Blaeser Indian Child Welfare Excellence Award. This award is presented annually by the Children’s Justice Initiative to individuals who improve the wellbeing of American Indian children and families who experience the child welfare system. The award was announced by the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

LAW

Fredrikson, Minneapolis, announced that firm attorney Ryan Cox has been named a Top 40 Under 40 Lawyer in Minnesota by The National Black Lawyers. Cox advises utilities, independent power producers and transmission companies on regulatory matters before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and other federal, state and local agencies.

MANUFACTURING

Holcim US, a Chicago-based global maker of building materials, announced that Twin Cities-based concrete general manager Mark Bintzler has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Aggregate and Ready Mix Association of Minnesota, and also received the Outstanding Service to the Industry award from the University of Minnesota.

REAL ESTATE

Newmark, a national commercial real estate firm, welcomed Ted Campbell as vice president of property management for Minneapolis. Most recently, Campbell spent 15 years at Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. US Inc. as director of management.
