Women’s basketball: Tommies go cold in Summit League opener

Amber Scalia scored a team-high 23 points, but St. Thomas made only one field goal in the second quarter and dropped its Summit League opener, 76-69, to Kansas City on Thursday at Scheoencker Arena.

Jade Hill added 15 points and six assists for the Tommies, who were 1 for 11 from the field and scored only five points in the second quarter to fall behind 37-24 at intermission.

St. Thomas fell to 8-6 overall, 0-1 in conference play.

Emani Bennett scored a game-high 26 points on 11-for-17 shooting to pace the Kansas City (5-11, 1-0).
