For city council, Cremona won 44% of the votes while incumbent Cornett received just over 31%. Tina Lobin, the other candidate, received 24%.

Giefer’s experience includes six years on the Grant City Council and time on the planning commission. He told the Pioneer Press that his campaign priorities included preserving the city’s zoning standards to “protect the rural character of Grant,” increasing resident engagement and improving roads.

Cremona was previously Rutherford Elementary’s Parent Teacher Association president and is currently a den leader for a local Cub Scout Pack. Similar to Giefer, Cremona said her priorities include preserving Grant’s ruralness, improving citizen engagement and government transparency and implementing more road safety and maintenance measures.

Cornett told the Pioneer Press that he would advocate for upholding current zoning ordinances and working to provide 24/7 law enforcement and fire services through local partnerships to ensure public safety.
